Downers Grove, IL -- UPP Business Systems, LLC, a leading provider of Information Technology solutions nationwide, announced today that the company has extended its IT contract to provide the State of Indiana with Information Technology services for the state Department of Workforce Development (DWD).

UPP consultants are currently working on DWD' largest application project, The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tax and Benefits System. This system is used to bill, collect and account for hundreds of millions of dollars in payroll and taxes each year. It also calculates, certifies and distributes similar amounts in benefits to the unemployed. In addition to daily maintenance on this and other associated critical systems, UPP consultants are involved in the design and development of new processes that increase the productivity and effectiveness of this critical state agency.

UPP Business Systems' long standing relationship with DWD has allowed the company to play a critical role in several major projects. UPP was instrumental in the Year 2000 remediation of nearly 1,000 programs comprising over 1.2 million lines of executable code: the change of the century came and went without a single failure and the project was hailed as a great success.

UPP was also a big contributor in the successful development of the DWD's UI Reimbursable Employer project. The Indiana State Legislature mandated that this new, complicated, functionality of the UI system be implemented on a very aggressive schedule, and UPP consultants completed it sooner than anyone thought possible. The success of this project has decreased employer default rates, made accounting more accurate and increased state revenues by hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.
