Downers Grove, IL -- UPP Business Systems, LLC, a leading provider of Information Technology solutions nationwide, was selected by the State of California's Health and Human Services agency to assist in the evaluation of the Statewide Automated Welfare System (SAWS), a large-scale Unisys system developed to automate public assistance processes throughout California.

The UPP team is currently working on the largest of four components, the Leader Project, which supports processing in Los Angeles and surrounding counties, comprising over 34% of the state's total caseload. This is a multi-server, large-scale enterprise project using Unisys Corp.'s latest, Unisys ClearPath IX-6800s.

Current project responsibilities include review, assessment and documentation of system architecture and performance metrics (capacity planning) as well as monitoring testing and implementation of proposed performance and major architectural changes to meet full-load performance goals.

Prior to being selected by the state's Health and Human Services agency, UPP Business Systems was retained by the California Board of Equalization to assist with Unisys A-Series COBOL/DMS conversion and Year 2000 compliance-related work. The Board of Equalization is responsible for collecting billions in California State tax revenue annually.
