Just 10 miles from Washington, DC in Fairfax County, Virginia, McLean is home to a number of Information Technology firms and Federal government contractors. The city offers its 40,000 residents theater, symphony and opera, as well as an award-winning galleria with 500 stores within walking distance of one another. For the history buff, there's no beating Fairfax County and its proximity to not only the nation's Capitol, but several Civil War sites, such as Manassas National Battlefield Park, and historic buildings, such as George Washington's Mount Vernon. In addition, the community of McLean is bordered by the Potomac River, including the scenic Potomac Gorge, offering access to Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park with 45 miles of paved trail for running/cycling and 32 miles of gravel trail for horseback riding.
