Madison, Wisconsin
Madison (population about 220,000), the capitol of Wisconsin, is built on an isthmus between Lake Monona and Lake Mendota for water sports fun year round. Area residents enjoy more than 200 parks with 10 park beaches, half a dozen museums, several theater companies, a variety of live music, and the State Street business and entertainment district. Nearby are the Wisconsin Dells, The Cave of the Mounds, Devil's Lake State Park, House on the Rock, York Farm Stables and numerous other attractions and adventures. For the athlete, Madison offers miles of running/biking, hiking and cross-country skiing trails, 20 area golf courses, and team sports through the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Several professional teams are little more than an hour away in Milwaukee.
