Washington, DC
Washington, DC is the capitol of the United States and the tourism capitol of the world. With a population of approximately 550,000 people, the 68 sq. mile city plays host to some 20 million tourists annually. Built along the scenic Potomac River and bordered by the states of Maryland and Virginia, the District houses some of the world's most recognizable buildings and monuments, and offers numerous walking tours of historical sites from the Civil War to Civil Rights. Beyond all the history and grand ceremony, the city is an entertainment mecca with countless art, cultural, and special interest museums, a national aquarium and zoo, river tours and paddleboat rides, and much more. The greater metro area is also home to half a dozen professional sports teams.
