Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta, the capitol of Georgia and that state's largest city by population, is a cultural metropolis and the heart of the South. The city is a business, transportation, and cultural hub for the more than three million people who call the region home. Residents enjoy an energetic downtown, excellent transportation, and beautifully wooded residential areas. The site of the 1996 Summer Olympics, Atlanta has a magnificent 21-acre Olympic Park, featuring an amphitheater, commemorative sculptures and gardens, and the interactive Fountain of Rings for computer-controlled water and light shows with music and for water sprinkler play. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy professional baseball, football, basketball, and hockey games entirely in Atlanta. A wide variety of cultural entertainment is also available, from ballet, museums, and Broadway-style live theatre to concerts and fairs.
