Unisys COBOL
UPP has been involved in a variety of COBOL projects encompassing hundreds of thousands of consulting hours. The company is responsible for developing a reservation system for a Fortune 500 entertainment company, using COBOL, ECL, DPS, DMS, TIP, HVTIP in a Unisys 2200 environment, and then migrating the system to client-server Visual Basic with UniAccess middleware and SQL Server as the back end (Case Study). For a client in the travel industry, an UPP team is developing and providing 24x7 support for reservations and bookings as well as retail sales, credit, employee time recording and other Unisys 2200 systems using COBOL, ECL, DML, IQU, etc. This also includes modification of their Unisys applications for enterprise transition to SAP. In an A-Series ClearPath environment, using COBOL and DMSII, UPP is responsible for designing, developing, modifying and implementing numerous hospital support programs, including EDI and electronic filing, for a hospital group. Also on ClearPath, UPP consultants are providing systems support to the EDI group of one of the world's largest shipping companies, using DMSII, COBOL and Visual Slick 2.0. And representative work in the public sector, at the Federal level, includes assisting several U.S. military clients with
modification and enhancement, as well as Web-enabling, of various systems using Unisys COBOL/MAPPER and DMS.
