Company Oracle DBAs are responsible for VLDB, data warehouse and OLTP financial applications for a discount store operator, including day-to-day Oracle administration for Oracle Parallel Server and Financials responsibilities in an IBM SP2 (MPP/SMP)-RS/6000 environment, using BMC, MicroStrategy DSS and other tools. UPP is responsible for 24x7 on-call Oracle 9i database administration for a Fortune 500 company in the entertainment industry, including supporting both real-time OLTP and data warehouse projects, logical and physical data modeling, all aspects of database administration (installation, configuration, version upgrades, monitoring, tuning, scripting, security, disaster recovery, etc.), synchronization of 9i Lite Mobile Server with PDA devices, connectivity and troubleshooting. Company resources have also been responsible for Oracle 9i administration for a state government as part of a Web-enabled system project, including working with a team to reverse-engineer the system database, developing and implementing plans to implement a call center component for online Help, setting up e-mail alerts on OEMREP, redoing system parameters, and performing day-to-day DBA tasks (Case Study).
