n-Tier and Object-Oriented Development
UPP has engaged in numerous projects involving the development and implementation of applications in n-tier architecture environments, and using object-oriented methods. UPP consultants are responsible for analyzing, designing, developing and implementing a mission-critical group reservations system for a client in the travel industry, including creating a Visual Basic front end with SQL Server middleware utilizing MTS and ActiveX technology and a mainframe back end for heavy OLTP (Case Study). For a county government client, UPP consultants are responsible for the architecture and development of an object-oriented, 3-tier Web application using Visual Basic, ASP, COM, ActiveX, MTS, SQL Server and IIS in a Windows environment. UPP has played a critical role in the analysis, design and implementation of a new employee time and attendance system replacing legacy systems, using object-oriented design with Java, Servlets and JSP with Oracle 8i on the back end, for a Fortune 500 manufacturer and distributor. UPP resources are working with a team on a mobile applications project for a food distributor involving object-oriented programming, modeling with UML, design with Java, J2EE as well as C/C++, SQL and Visual Basic with Oracle 8i/9i as the database. The UPP team also developed and generated a prototype 3-tier Web site for a leading worldwide supplier of pressure treated wood products.
