Data Management
Technical support services provided by UPP include database, data warehouse support in UNIX, Windows and Web environments for Oracle, Sybase and SQL Server. For both a transportation services company and a Web-based educational store, UPP maintains Oracle environments, including logical volume striping of data files for improved performance, sizing of database structures, monitoring/ implementation of BMC Patrol tools, and disaster recovery on Sun E10000/mid-range platforms running Solaris. UPP is also responsible for the ground-up implementation of an enterprise-wide Oracle data repository for one of the nation's largest insurance companies, including installing Oracle on IBM RS/6000 and two CPUs in an SMP environment as well as database design, implementation and continuing maintenance in a parallel processing environment. Additionally, UPP has been responsible for Sybase database administration, including data loading, database sizing, monitoring, performance tuning, etc. for a worldwide provider of agricultural and construction equipment. UPP Sybase DBA resources have also assisted a transportation and logistics company with Sybase
database administration, upgrades and production support in a UNIX environment. As for SQL Server, representative DBA experience includes SQL Server database administration and data warehouse support with high-volume data loading to feed data into a data warehouse through intranet interfaces built for a state government agency.
