Working with a team, UPP Business Systems has been called upon to provide U.S. Bank (as Firstar Bank) with LAN systems administration services in a mixed IBM mainframe, Windows and Novell environment. This has included diagnosis, troubleshooting, resolution of problems with hardware, software, connectivity; user and e-mail administration; Help Desk database documentation and tracking; etc. for bank branches in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Responsible for supporting dozens of bank branches networked using Star WAN topology, including some 2,000 nodes. Installed SAA/SNA gateways for network and branches, IBM mainframe host communications; used Ghost imaging. Upgraded and maintained network servers as well as gateways and print servers, including primarily IBM and Compaq servers running one of several IBM operating systems, Windows or Novell. Responsible for data synchronization, migration, mirroring, upgrade testing, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Setup, migrated network user accounts. Responsible for user administration. Updated server, gateway and Help Desk documentation (Lotus Notes).

On the client end, installed, configured, maintained PC hardware and software, including TCP/IP (DHCP) for office workstations and teller terminals. Setup and maintained e-mail accounts and post offices in the mixed Windows/Novell environment with Microsoft Outlook as well as Lotus Notes and cc:Mail. Installed, configured, maintained and supported various banking and teller applications as well as standard office software. Provided Internet and e-mail training. Provided support for backup & recovery using Backup Exec. With the team, also responsible for on-call, 24x7 pager support on a rotating basis.
