UPP Business Systems has helped Sprint Nextel (as Sprint) work toward their singular goal to be "#1 in providing a simple, instant, enriching and productive customer experience" with the provision of Systems Integration support services, focused on data management and data warehousing. Sprint Nextel, formed in 2005 following the acquisition by Sprint Corporation of NEXTEL Communications, operates the third largest wireless network in the country, is the third largest long distance phone service provider, and is one of the major players making up a portion of the Internet backbone.

Working in a mixed IBM mainframe and UNIX, Linux environment, company personnel have provided Sprint Nextel (as Sprint) with database administration, architecture, and modeling services using primarily Teradata and Oracle. For the Business Profitability project, responsible for logical and physical data modeling using Teradata, ERwin, MicroStrategy tools. Performed Production database structures development, data load and maintenance, and responsible for user access and security per Enterprise standards. Provided day-to-day database administration, and also responsible for troubleshooting and user support in Development and Production environments.

Additionally, led migration/conversion of existing database models Enterprise-wide to an ERwin/ModelMart CASE environment. Remotely coordinated and conducted nationwide discovery of ERwin's capabilities concerning generation of DBA-level DLLs for Oracle and Teradata as well as SQL Server, DB2, Tandem and ADABAS. Facilitated implementation of ModelMart repository environment, including administration and DBA training. Involved in establishing new database administration shop standards and procedures, advising client staff on database synchronization (i.e., keeping data models in sync with physical databases).

From a development standpoint, also played a leading role in the life cycle development of various systems for Sprint Long Distance and Sprint Business and Consumer units. Developed Encore data warehouse and Common Billing Revenue data warehouse systems, which extract information from different legacy systems, store the data and provide comprehensive reporting. In addition, developed a Profitability reporting tool, and re-designed and developed a datamart system to reduce data extraction and load time from source to target. All development was designed or re-designed for Web-based reporting in an Oracle environment using Java, SQL, and MicroStrategy tools.
